As the world rediscovers Hydrogen to help boost decarbonization, a Korean and a European industry leader are already celebrating five years of successful cooperation in the field of Solid-Oxide fuel cells (SOFC). SolydEra has now been a supplier of fuel cell stacks to its Korean partner HnPower for five years.

The partnership started in 2018 with a handful of SOFC stacks, produced by SolydEra’s production plant and then integrated by HnPower into their 3kW mCHP (micro-combined heat and power) systems. The first years saw a few dozen stacks travelling from Europe to Asia but over the last two years numbers doubled every year. HnPower now foresees more than 200 stacks in 2024.

Both partners are in the meantime engaged in projects for much larger energy production for 10kW and even larger systems. The companies’ credibility and confidence has been built on experience gained over many millions of operating hours of their technology in smaller systems.

Inyong Kang, CEO of HnPower, said: “Hydrogen extraction and SOFC are our core at HnPower as we strive to build a true hydrogen society. We are very pleased with our successful partnership with SolydEra. As we both see a fast-growing demand for energy production and hydrogen, we are expanding our product portfolio and are growing our production capacity for power generation systems. We are looking forward to more business and more projects with our partner SolydEra.”

Martin Füllenbach, CEO of SolydEra, added: “We are jointly fascinated by our technologies with their outstanding efficiency in energy conversion. This has brought us together. It is our joint ambition to bring to life the huge opportunities they offer in addressing environmental challenges, industry decarbonization and building new businesses. Over the last few years, our products and technologies have matured to a level where industrial applications are now the next step. Strong investment and unprecedented growth are just around the next corner.
